Obituary

Mrs. Alice Cox Montgomery, 68, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born in San Francisco, California on October 18, 1949 to the late William Theodore Cox and Marjorie Alice Coulter Cox.  She grew up in a military family but lived most of her life in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and South Georgia.  She was a registered nurse for several hospitals during her career including St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee and South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta from which she retired.  Mrs. Montgomery was also an active member of Ministry Baptist Church in Ray City, Georgia.

Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Wallace "Wally" Montgomery of Valdosta; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Melinda and James Easler of Adel, Georgia, Angela and Keith Fallon of Fall River, Massachusetts, Amelia E. Montgomery of Valdosta, and Carrie Harris of Valdosta; four grandchildren: Andrew Fallon and Emma Fallon, both of Fall River, Malyn Easler of Adel, and Isabella Harris of Valdosta; and three brothers and sisters-in-law: Dan and Shirley Cox of Fostoria, Kansas, Roger and Diane Cox of Murfreesboro, Mark and Judy Cox of Shelbyville, Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Bill Cox.

The Montgomery family received friends Monday evening, June 18, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel.  The funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11 AM with Bro. Ben S. Blanton officiating.  Interment followed at Wilkes Cemetery.  "You Raise Me Up" and "Beulah Land" were special musical selections played at the service and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace" at the graveside.  Keith Fallon, Andrew Fallon, James Easler, Nathan Bell, Jonathan Bell and Timothy Bell served as palbearers.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .  --Boone Funeral Home of Adel, Georgia has been entrusted with all arrangements.
