Mrs. Alma McCranie Hamner, 98, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away August 7, 2016 at Sparks Retirement Home in Sparks, Georgia. She was born June 5, 1918 in Sparks, Georgia to her late parents, John Lunsford McCranie and Viola Rentz McCranie. She lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a retired homemaker and member of Cecil Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hamner is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law: Bobby Hamner of Sycamore, Georgia, and Jerry and Sharon Hamner of Adel, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherrell and Franklin Luke of Hahira; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hugh Hamner, and a son, Bernie Hamner.
The family of Mrs. Hamner will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 9, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service will be held Wednesday August 10, 2016 at 11 AM at Cecil Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Hendley and Rev. Jody Futch officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mason Perry, Danny Payne, Tommy Martin, Jamie Martin, Judson Moore, Tim Barden, Blake Hamner, Jerred Perry and Gary Hamner will serve as pallbearers. Mance Cloud will sing "It Is Well With My Soul", "Beulah Land" and "How Great Thou Art". Flowers will be accepted or honorariums may be made to Cecil Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Hamner.
