Mrs. Alma Gaskins Myers, 92, of Adel, Georgia, passed away April 27, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born October 10, 1922 in Berrien County to her late parents, Dave Gaskins and Lizzie Griner Gaskins. She lived in Cook County most of her life where she was a member of Sparks Baptist Church and a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary for 31 years. She was retired from Sears and Roebuck before becoming a full time homemaker for her family. She spent the last three years of her life at the Rachel House where she loved the staff and residents.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamela Myers of Valdosta; two special nieces: Patricia Gaskins Giddens of Adel and Hazel Powell Bowman of Valdosta; a Grand-Dog, Molly Grace; two Grand-Cats, Beau and Belle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.T. Myers, Jr.; a daughter, Carol Sue Myers; five brothers; and four sisters.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home. The funeral service took place Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11 AM at Sparks Baptist Church with Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Morris Myers, Curtis Myers, Buddy Duke, Keith Giddens, Johnny Hambrick, and Timmy Spearman served as pallbearers; the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Cook Medical Center served as honorary pallbearers. Mary Nell Boyette played piano and the following special selections were played at the service: "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", and "When I Get Where I'm Going".
