Mrs. Barbara Bennett, 68 of Valdosta, Georgia passed away September 1, 2023 at the South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Lowndes County October 12, 1954 to the late William Jackson Terry and Mittie Louise Buckles Terry. She lived in Cook County and Lowndes County. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Cecil, Georgia. She worked many years as a CNA at local nursing homes and the last several years at the Waffle House in Lake Park, Georgia.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her son Brian Giddens and his fiance', Juanita Cook of Valdosta, Georgia; one daughter and son-in-law, April and George Rodgers of Tallahassee, Florida; six grandchildren; Jennifer Giddens of Valdosta, Georgia; Jesse Vick of Moultrie, Georgia; Justin Vick of Lakeland, Georgia; Tiffany Mercer of Thomasville, Georgia; Jasmine Edwards of Tallahassee, Florida and Jonathan Giddens of Valdosta, Georgia;11 great grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Faye and Larry Teal of Perry, Florida; Lillian and Zane Hutchinson of Adel, Georgia; Betty and Charles Sowell of Nashville, Georgia; Patti Tovar of Adel, Georgia and also numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by husband, John Levy "J. L." Bennett, her parents and one brother, William Charles Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the time of the service.

In honor of Mrs. Barbara the family ask that everyone wear something red, preferably a red shirt and blue jeans.
