Obituary

Mr. Barry Thomas Fletcher, age 59, a devoted husband and father passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas.  Barry Thomas was born September 27, 1964, in Atlanta, Georgia, and was the son of Emory Thomas Fletcher, Jr. and Mary Jo Bennett Fletcher.  Although he grew up in Arlington, Texas, he attended and graduated, in 1983, from Cook High School in Adel, Georgia.  He had a lifelong love of horses, and after graduating he left for the mountains of Montana where he guided hunting trips on horseback deep in the backcountry.  His work life was as eclectic as his interests.  He worked as an inspector for the USDA, owned his own welding company and traveled throughout the country as a safety consultant for a variety of oil and gas companies – ultimately as the lead safety supervisor for the largest compression plant on the East Coast.  In 1997 he married Charlene Mauk of College Station, Texas.  After the birth of their son, W.T., they moved to Arlington, Texas.  Barry was a devoted family man and loved to promote the work of his son.  Barry loved to find and make a deal. He also enjoyed sharing his finds with others.  It was rare if a visitor left his home without a "Barry bag" full of his most recent acquisitions.  With the passing of Barry, the world has lost several shades of color.

Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Charlene Mauk Fletcher; his son, Warren Thomas Fletcher; two sisters: Amy Fletcher and Tracy Dodson (Ben); mother-in-law, Thelma Mauk; sister-in-law, Brenda Spencer (Tim); brother-in-law, Steve Mauk (Anna); nephews: Ben Dodson, Jr., and John Mauk; nieces: Aerin Mauk and Lauren Spencer; and a multitude of extended relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Fletcher will take place from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM on Saturday, February 24th, at Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.) in Adel, Georgia.  A graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Antioch Church Cemetery (4564 Antioch Rd., Adel, Georgia) with Pastor Deron Roberts officiating.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Fletcher to St. Jude's Children's Hospital ( www.stjude.org ), The American Cancer Society ( www.donate.cancer.org ), or the charity of your choice.

Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .  Boone Funeral Home, Inc. of Adel, Georgia has been entrusted with all arrangements.
