Elder Barry Marshall, age 65, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away April 29, 2025, at his residence. Elder Marshall was born December 20, 1959 in Hahira, Georgia. He lived in Cook and Lowndes Counties most of his life and was a member of the Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired instructor from Southern Regional Technical College and served 15 years as a Primitive Baptist Elder serving four churches.
Elder Marshall is survived by three children: his son, Zane Varn Marshall of Monticello, Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Madison and Jeremy Rice of Nashville, Tennessee, and Lindsey Marshall of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Charli Rice and Piper Rice of Nashville, Tennessee; his parents, Dwight and Monie Horne Marshall of Adel, Georgia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Mario Lagrange of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; Lynn and Pete Swengel of Thomasville, Georgia; nephews: Dominique Lagrange (Audrey-Anne) of Quebec City, Canada, and Evan Wood (Jessica) of Thomasville; nieces, Ashley Mitchell (Eric) and Amanda Wood, all of Thomasville; one great niece and three great nephews; several uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday May 3, 2025, at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Adel with Elder Tony Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Zane Marshall, Evan Wood, Dominique Lagrange, Jeremy Rice, Chris Brown and Geno Hasty will serve as pallbearers. "Angel Band" and "Farther Along" will be sung by members of the Primitive Baptist Congregation. Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday May 2, 2025 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Georgia.
