Mr. Bennie B. Myers, Jr., 89, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away May 18, 2016 at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. He was born in Sparks on September 26, 1926 to his late parents, Bennie Bryant Myers, Sr. and Vera Harris Myers. He was a lifelong resident of Cook County where was a retired farmer and member of Sparks Baptist Church where he was a senior deacon.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara Mae Gibbs Myers of Sparks; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Becky Myers, Bob and Belinda Myers, all of Sparks; a daughter, Janice Myers Jarvis of Quitman, Georgia; nine grandchildren: Joy and Mark Folsom of Sparks, Mica Jarvis of Dixie, Georgia, Britt Jarvis and Tisha Wilkes of Quitman, Craig and Kacey Myers of Sparks, Jill Myers Davis of Sparks, Chad Myers of Sparks, Jessica and Lee Wilkerson of Sparks, Kayla and Chuck Warren of Sparks, Brittany Myers of Sparks and her special friend Caleb Vining of Adel; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Smith of Augusta, Georgia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julie Ann Jarvis; two brothers, Thomas Myers and Raymond Myers; and two sisters, Faye Parrish and Juanita Hadden.
The funeral service was held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment followed at Spring Hill Church Cemetery. Craig Myers, Chad Myers, Britt Jarvis, Chuck Warren, Lee Wilkerson and Andy Parrish served as active pallbearers; Scott Peters, Matt Martinez, Chris Davis and Tommy Folsom served as honorary pallbearers. Special selections played at the service were "Beulah Land", "I Want Us to be Together in Heaven" and ""Go Rest High on That Mountain".
