Mrs. Bertha Duren Rountree, 79, of Sparks, Georgia passed away October 15, 2021 at the Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.  She was born in Cook County on August 12, 1942 to the late Marcus and Laura Kathryn Meadows Duren.  Mrs. Rountree lived all of her life in Cook County. She was a member of Sparks Baptist Church and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant.

Mrs. Rountree is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Laura Rountree of Adel, Georgia; her grandchildren: Heather and Aaron Weathers of Lake City, Florida; Laura and Chad Fletcher, T. J. Taylor all of Valdosta, Georgia; Mitch Taylor and Matt Taylor both of Adel; her great grandchildren: Jonathan Waters and Caleb Weathers both of Lake City; Abby Fletcher and Harper Fletcher, both of Valdosta; one sister, Mildred Meadows of Sparks; and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kenneth Rountree; two brothers, Lloyd Duren and Homer Duren; and two sisters, Betty Thornton and Nora Taylor.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. James Rice officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Hahira, Georgia.  Special music for the service included "Amazing Grace" and It Is Well."  Joe Nugent, Ryan Duren, Lonnie Roberts, Riley Rutherford, Phil Hamner and Ricky Young served as pallbearers.  Visitation was conducted from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home in Adel, Georgia.
