Obituary

Mrs. Bessie Dukes Stewart, 88, of Sparks, Georgia passed away September 10, 2014 at her home. She was born September 15, 1925 in Ellenton, Georgia to the late Madison Holland Dukes and the late Florence Hall Dukes. She lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of Adel First Assembly of God and also worked as a homemaker.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Carole Stewart of Sparks; three daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Charles Roegge of Adel, Georgia, Lottie and Charles Beatty of Mobile, Alabama, and Susan and Lark Keene of Lakeland, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Lulela Weeks of Norman Park, Georgia, Rose Rocheleau of Quitman, Georgia, Eva Nell Jarvis of Sparks, and Elizabeth Ferguson of Lake City, Florida; a special niece, Lucy Acree, and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abram Hering Stewart; an infant son and infant daughter; and a grandson, Michael Beatty.

A Celebration of Life was held for Mrs. Stewart Friday September 12, 2014 at 11 am at Adel First Assembly of God with Rev. Caryl Martinez, Rev. Eric Gordon, and Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment followed at Buck Creek Church Cemetery in Colquitt County. Jason Stewart, Jason Jones, Jason Slimp, Derek Ball, Michael Delk, and Ronnie Weeks served as pallbearers; The Joy Ladies Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers. Charlotte Dickerson played the piano and Paige Gordon sang "Beulah Land" and "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)"; special selections played at the service were ""Meet Me at the River" and "One Day at a Time." The family received friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .
