Mrs. Betty L. Avera Patten, 93, of Lenox, Georgia, passed away on Saturday April 21, 2018 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel.. She was born on February 26, 1925 in Lakeland, Florida to the late Grover C. Avera and Arlie Avera Taylor. She retired from Thigpen Distribution as a manager at the age of 65 after more than 21 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Fred B. Patten, and her step-father, Simon Taylor;.
Mrs. Patten is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William M. "Billy" and June Patten of Flowery Branch, Georgia; her daughter and son-in-law, Fredda and Harold Spurling of Lenox; three grandchildren: Michelle Sedam of Adel, Todd Phillips of Adel, Valerie and Brad Witcher of Douglasville, Georgia; six great-grandchildren: Jason Sedam of Vienna, Austria, Justin Sedam of Oxford, Mississippi, Joshua Phillips of Douglasville, Paige Phillips, Payton Phillips and Taylor Ann Phillips, all of Plymouth, North Carolina; a brother, Grover Avera of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, April 22, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home North, 202 N. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Lenox Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery. Doris Arnold will sing "Welcome to Heaven" and the congregation will sing "Amazing Grace." Todd Phillips, Justin Sedam, Joshua Phillips, John Dale Pharr, Billy Godwin and Travas Spurling will serve as pallbearers.
