Mrs. Betty Friar Gunter, 87 of Valdosta, Georgia passed away September 6, 2026 at the Lake Park of Madison, Florida. She was born October 8, 1938 in Adel, Georgia to the late Jackson Duncan "J.D." Friar, Sr. and the late Louise Arrington Friar. Mrs. Gunter had lived most of her life in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Valdosta in 2005. She was a retired care giver. 

     She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law; Pam Daniel of Madison, Georgia; Ann and Kenny Weed of Bedford, Iowa; Lyn and Allen Clinton of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law. Lavone and Elton Webb of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Derrell Friar and J. D. Friar, Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Griffin and Ophelia George.

      In keeping with Mrs. Gunters wishes she was cremated. No formal services are scheduled at this time. Please check back at a later date.
