Mrs. Betty Martin Hewett Nolan, 82, of Adel, GA, passed away Monday February 20, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, GA. She was born March 13, 1934 in Cook County to the late Samuel Leon Martin and Fannie Cleon Touchton Martin. She worked for many years at C & D Sportswear and was a member of the Adel Church of Christ.
Mrs. Nolan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Lossie Abbott of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Derry and Diane Hewett of TyTy, GA, and Jason and Brandie Nolan of Moultrie, GA; five grandchildren: Steven Abbott of Atlanta, GA, David and Susie Abbott of Stockton, GA, Brayden Nolan of Moultrie, Cari and Dusty Gibson of Atlanta and Heather Hewett of Danielsville, GA; four great-grandchildren: Ashton and Ava Abbott of Stockton, and James and Tricey Bush of Snellville, GA; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Jake Martin and Bill and Sherry Martin, all of Adel; a sister-in-law, Ann Martin of Tifton; and a dear friend from Mary's Haven, Corey Mackie of Adel. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Hewett and Bobby Nolan; a grandson, Anthony Scott Abbott; four brothers: Larine, Lamar, Mickey and Leonard Martin; and two sisters: Thelma Gray and Mary Bennett.
The funeral service took place Thursday February 23, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Adel Church of Christ with Bro. Roger Leonard officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn City Cemetery. The family received friends at the church from 2:00 PM until service time on Thursday. Steve Jones led the congregation in the singing of "Amazing Grace", "Precious Memories", "An Empty Mansion" and "Kneel at the Cross". Bryan Martin, Chris Martin, Doug Martin, Johnny Martin, Phillip Martin, Chuck Martin and Mike Bennett served as pallbearers.
