Mrs. Betty Rose Hurst, 71, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away at her home Sunday May 8, 2016. She was born on November 5, 1944 in Adel, Georgia to her late parents, Leon Jackson Bullard, Sr. and Zella Mae Hancock Bullard. She lived in the south Georgia area for most of her life where she attended Cook High School, was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Mrs. Hurst is survived by her husband James Hurst of Valdosta; six children and their spouses: Cindy and Jack Monk of Valdosta, Kenneth Moore of Columbia, Tennessee, Bruce Dwayne Moore of Valdosta, Donald Moore of Valdosta, Theresa and Greg Hersick of Valdosta, Renee and Christopher Allen of Lebanon, Georgia; twenty grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilson Bullard of Augusta, Georgia; and four sisters: Inez Hurst of Valdosta, Mary Ann Smithie of Nahunta, Georgia, Glenda Peters of Brunswick, Georgia and Reba Peterson of Madison, Florida. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons: Rodney Moore and Samuel Dexter Moore.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hurst was held Wednesday May 11, 2016 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. Interment followed at Lenox City Cemetery. The family received friends Monday and Tuesday evenings, May 9 and 10, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. SPecial selections played at the service were "Save a Place for Me" and "Dancing in the Sky". Brent Yeomans Jr., Jackie Monk, J.R.
