Mrs. Betty Mullis McLellan, age 87, of Nashville, Georgia, passed away at her home on June 28, 2026. She was born on June 16, 1939 in Lowndes County near Naylor but lived much of her life on Cook County before moving to Nashville 25 years ago. Mrs. McLellan was the daughter of the late Walter Dewitt Mullis and the late Lillian C. Mullis. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland, Georgia and she was retired from Carter's Fried Chicken in Adel, Georgia where she was known for the innovative idea of "Betty's Battered Fries" which has been a favorite for many years at the restaurant.
Mrs. McLellan is survived by two daughters, Diana Hesch (Charles Greene) of Ray City, Georgia, and Rose and Scotty Peters of Adel; a son, Charlie McLellan, Jr. (Judy) of Adel; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Reba Duggan of Naylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charlie Junell McLellan, Sr.
The funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Morris and Rev. Scotty Mathis officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place at Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2016.
