Mrs. Betty Hanks Nichols, 75, of Cecil, Georgia passed away April, 29, 2018 at her residence.  She was born October 17, 1942 in Berrien County to the late Everett Milan Hanks and Myrtice Bullard Hanks.  Mrs. Nichols lived most of her life in Cook County and was a member of the Cecil Baptist Church.  She was a beautician at Shirley's His and Hers Salon in Valdosta.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Wes and Stephanie Nichols; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and David Bryan; four grandchildren: Jacob Bryan, Brandon Bryan, Jonah Bryan and Katie Nichols; her brother, Donald Hanks, all of Hahira, Georgia; and special friend, Mike Kirkland of Cecil.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South with Rev. Johnny Hendley and Rev. Michael Bass officiating. Visitation was conducted from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home South.  Jacob Bryan, Michael Bass, David Hanks, Clay Shierling, Jamie Oglesby, Steve Nichols and Trey Wetherington served as active pallbearers and the employees of Shirley's His and Hers Salon served as honorary pallbearers.  Michael Kirkland sang "I Can Only Imagine," Todd Brooks played piano and sang "Look for Me at Jesus Feet" and the congregation sang "Victory in Jesus."  A private interment will be held at a later date.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
