Mrs. Betty O'Quinn Willis, 79, of Nampa, Idaho, formerly of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away at St. Alphonso Hospital in Boise, Idaho on April 19, 2019, after succumbing to injuries received in an auto accident. She was born in Berrien County, Georgia on May 28, 1939, but lived for many years in Jacksonville, Florida before returning to Valdosta about 13 years ago. Her parents were the late Mallie Jones O'Quinn and Mae Blanton O'Quinn. Mrs. Willis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a retired registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital.
Mrs. Willis is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Cindy Vedas of Valdosta, Jon and Debbie Vedas of Middleburg, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Jerry Pye of Nampa, Idaho; seven grandchildren: Ellen Vedas and Allison Vedas, both of Valdosta, Lindsey Vedas and Jon Michael Vedas, both of Jacksonville, Kristin and Joshua Pete of Buhl, Idaho, Austin and Rachel Tyler of Pasadena, California, and Brandy Vedas of Orange Park, Florida; eleven grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Sally Culpepper of Stockton, Georgia, Sue Petty of Ray City, Georgia, Nancy and George Bonnel of Dillon, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Heywood Willis; and three brothers: Merle R. O'Quinn, Donald O'Quinn and Ronald O'Quinn.
The funeral service for Mrs. Willis will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church in Berrien County, Georgia. Jerry Pye will provide the opening prayer, Jon Vedas will give the eulogy, the grandchildren will sing a song, Joshua Pete will provide memories of Mrs. Willis and Elder Dwight Marshall will provide the message and closing prayer. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 to 2:30 prior to the service.
