Mr. Billy Barker, age 86, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on December 6, 2024 at the Lakeland Villa in Lakeland, Georgia.  Mr. Barker was born in Cook County on September 1, 1938 to the late John Austin Barker and the late Martha Agnes Murphy Barker.  He was the owner and operator of Dependable Upholstery in Valdosta and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Barker also served in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. Barker is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law: Billy Wayne and Kathy Barker, and Randy Keith Barker, all of Valdosta; one granddaughter and her husband, Mallorie and S.J. Merchant of Valdosta; one brother, Wayne Barker of Columbus, Georgia; and two sisters, Joleta Atkinson and Barbara Ray, both of Adel, Georgia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Murphy Barker; his daughter, Tracey Barker; a grandson, Thomas Barker; and two sisters, Janice Lasseter and Annette "Tootsie" Pettyjohn.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Bennett and Rev. R.T. Castleberry officiating.  Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation took place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, Georgia.
