Mrs. Brenda Bates Phillips, 69, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Adel, Georgia, passed away on January 27, 2021, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Valdosta.  Mrs. Phillips was born June 21, 1951, in Cook County.  Her parents were the late Aubrey Lewis Bates and Mary Blondean Sego Bates.  She lived all of her life in Cook and Lowndes Counties.  She attended the Adel Church of God and Beulah Holiness Baptist Churches in Cook County.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Armond and Pat Bates of Adel; two nephews: Russell Bates of Ray City, Georgia, and Merrill Bates of Statenville, Georgia; three nieces: Sherra Bondanza of Brooksville, Florida, Michelle Hyde and Victoria Carter, both of Adel; also several great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Woodlawn City Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. Interment followed. The family requested that those attending the service please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
