Mrs. Cathy Darlene Avery Sumner, 58, of Adel, Georgia, passed away December 29, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born on August 31, 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Alvin B. and Christine Howard Avery. She lived in south GEorgia most of her life and was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Mrs. Sumner is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law: Rick and Courtney Sumner and Jason Sumner, all of Adel; four grandchildren: Ryan and Dalton Sumner of Adel, and Zoey and Lane Sumner of Nashville, Georgia; and two sisters: Nancy McCabe of Ashburn, Georgia and Diane Avery of Griffin, Georgia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Sumner; a brother, Alvin Lynn Avery; and a sister, Marsha Jean Campbell.

The funeral service for Mrs. Sumner was held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. Special musical selections played at the service were "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain".
