Mr. Griffin is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Elnita and David Ginn of Valdosta, Georgia, Jami and Wayne Ade of Adel, and Lisa Schofill of Adel; nine grandchildren: Freelon and Jennifer Gay of Sparks, Wesley Gelatt of Adel, Kalita and Jeremy Edwards of Homerville, Georgia, Brian and Danielle Gibbs of Lakeland, Georgia, Brianna Ginn of Valdosta, Sharrod and Amber Fulghum of Adel, Kyle Fulghum of Adel, Garrett Ade of Adel, and Colby Ade of Adel; six great-grandchildren; five brothers: Frank Griffin of Lenox, Georgia, Gene Griffin of Adel, Tim Griffin of Jasper, Florida, Danny Griffin of Lenox, and Roger Griffin of Tennessee; and a sister, Joyce Esty of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Elvenia Tillman Griffin.
The Griffin family received friends Saturday evening July 26, 2014 from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service was held Sunday July 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm at China Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Colquitt County with Rev. Jimmy Hiers officiating. Interment followed at China Grove Church Cemetery. Freelon Gay, Wesley Gelatt, Brian Gibbs, Sharrod Fulghum, Kyle Fulghum, and Garrett Ade served as pallbearers. "I'm Redeemed," "Beulah Land," and "The King is Coming" were special selections played during the service. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .
