Mr. Charles M. "Jack" Hanks, 87, of Adel, Georgia passed away May 7, 2018 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia.  Mr. Hanks was born August 10, 1930 in Adairsville, Georgia to the late William Gary "W.G." Hanks. Sr. and Bertha Craig Hanks.  He lived most of his life in Adel and was a member of Westside Baptist Church.  Mr. Hanks was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.  He was a retired plant manager from Production Anodizing in Adel.

Mr. Hanks is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Gaye Hanks; his daughter, Sheri Ray all of Adel; eight grandchildren: Matt and Maryanne Stone of Adel, Lauren and Eric Exum, Haley Vonier, all of Tifton, Georgia; Ashley Hanks of Tampa, Florida; Cuylar Hanks of Adel; Brandon Hanks of Albany, Georgia; Mikayla and Justin Hopper of Athens, Georgia; Lauraleigh Shealy and friend, Jake Weeks both of Adel; 5 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: Tommy and Diane Crosby of Adel; James and Joan Ensley of Sparks, Georgia; Joanne Crosby and Rosie Hanks both of Adel.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Crosby Hanks; three brothers: Everett Hanks, James Hanks and William G. "Bill" Hanks, Jr.; and three sisters: Mary Tomlinson, Laverne Griner and Edith Connell.

Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Mathis officiating.  Interment followed at the Woodlawn Cemetery Annex.  The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home South.  Matt Stone, Cuylar Hanks, Eric Exum, Clay Ensley, Donnie Warren and Mike Stone served as pallbearers.  Special musical selections played during the service were "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."
