Mr. Charles Donald Napier, 82, of Sparks, Georgia passed away on January 20, 2025 at the Fellowship Home of Nashville, Georgia. Mr. Napier was born on February 17, 1942 in Nashville, Georgia to the late John Thomas Napier, Sr. and the late Laura Lee Griffin Napier. He lived most of his life in Berrien County, growing up in the New Lois Community and attending the New Lois School. He graduated from Berrien High School in 1960 and later attended Valdosta Technical School, now Wiregrass. He has lived in Cook County the past 32 years where he raised two grandsons, Brian Napier and Jacob Napier. He was of the Methodist Faith. He worked for ITT Thompson Industries, Chaparral Boats, Liberty National and was a real estate appraiser, computer technician and a counselor at AA in Berrien County. He also served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Napier is survived by his wife, Sherrill Whiddon Napier of Sparks; six grandchildren: special granddaughter, Laura Napier Ferguson (Jimmy) of Nashville, Georgia; Jacob Napier of Rockmart, Georgia; Corey (Crystal) Delarosa of Hahira, Georgia; Taylor Delarosa of Hahira; and Chandler Newbern of Adel, Georgia; his sister, Kathleen N. Moore of Hahira, Georgia. Several great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his son, David Napier; his daughter, Marie Delarosa; a grandson, Brian Napier; and three brothers: John Thomas Napier, Jr., Randel Napier and Walter Napier.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. John Harrington and Rev. Al Lewis officiating. Interment followed at the Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City, Georgia. Visitation took place at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" were played at the service. Alex Ferguson, Cameron Ferguson, Shane Massey, Wesley Luke, Tom Skinner and Justin Fost served as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a "Special Thanks" to the Fellowship Home of Nashville and to Pruitt Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Alzheimer's Association; 225 N. Michigan Ave.; Floor 17; Chicago, Illinois 60601.
