Mrs. Charlotte Jean Flowers, 71, of Morven, Georgia, passed away on February 20, 2021 in Valdosta, Georgia, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Jackson, Georgia, on April 21, 1949. Her parents were James Willos Hicks and Katie Corene Bailey Hicks. Mrs. Flowers lived most of her life in Cook County and the last 20 years in Brooks County. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Flowers is survived by her husband, Darvin Lee "D.L." Flowers, Jr. of Morven; a daughter and son-in-law: Melissa and Andy Roberts of Citrus Springs, Florida; three sons, a daughter-in-law, and two fiancées: Danny Abbott and his fiancée, Mony Abbott, both of Stanton Tennessee, Joey Abbott and his fiancée, Larri McGovney, both of Hahira, Georgia, and Jeff and Jana Abbott of Valdosta; a stepson and daughter-in-law: Darvin and Melissa Flowers III of Boston, Georgia; a step-daughter and her fiancé, LeeAnn Flowers and Steven Napier of Jacksonville, Florida; ten grandchildren: Misti Montesano of Apopka, Florida, Lauren Kirk of Branford, Florida, Brittany Abbott Brown of Oxford, Mississippi, Dustin Abbott of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Erin Blanton of Lake Park, Georgia, Ethan Abbott, Luke Abbott, Brady Abbott, Seth Abbott and Drew Abbott, all of Valdosta; two step-grandchildren: Kevin Flowers and Lee Flowers, both of Boston, Georgia; six great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law: Carol and Robert Price of Nashville, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Joe Hicks, Roy Hicks, Ronnie Hicks, Annette Handley and Patricia Clay.
A memorial service for Mrs. Flowers was held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Luke officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. Special music played at the service included "Go Rest High on That Mountain," "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone" and "Amazing Grace." In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made in honor of Mrs. Flowers to the Georgia Transplant Foundation (2201 Macy Drive; Roswell, GA 30076 or online at gatransplant.org).
