Mrs. Clyde L. Smith, 100, of Adel, Georgia, passed away at on March 18, 2017 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. She was born on February 16, 1917 in Lenox, Georgia to Daniel Lambert Connell and Iva Iris Hiers Connell. She worked as a seamstress for Safro Manufacturing and was also a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Cook and Berrien Counties and was a member of Enigma Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne and Lucille Smith of Leary, Georgia, Ray and Jo Smith of Glendale, Arizona, and Tommy and Susan Smith of Hagerstown, Maryland; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Arvel Smith; a grandson, "Little" Tom Smith; two brothers, L.D. and Kenneth Connell, and four sisters: Doris L. Reed, Norma Day, Vera Gaskins and Nina Smith.
The funeral service for Mrs. Smith was held Friday March 24, 2017 at 2 PM at Enigma Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Smith and Rev. "Pete" Ralph Jones officiating. Interment followed at Tift Memorial Gardens in Tifton, Georgia. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Iris Harbin sang "What a Day" and Trina Smith sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer". Randall Smith Jr., Sam Smith, Ronald Harbin, Scott Connell and Don Gaskins served as pallbearers.
