Mr. David L. Knight, age 69, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away on April 1, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 24, 1955 in Lake Wales, Florida to the late James Wilbur Hulsey and the late Helen Geneva Knight Meadows. He has lived in Cook County for the past 33 years and was a retired truck driver for Jacuzzi. Mr. Knight was a member and deacon at Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia. He also served in the United States Army. Mr. Knight loved to grill for his family even though he could not enjoy eating the food. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work in the yard with his little sidekick, Winslow Knight, who would ride with him on his mule over every dirt road in Cook County.
Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Wisdom Knight of Sparks; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Stephanie Knight of Cecil, Georgia; two daughters, Andrea Thompson of Alabama and Amanda Meeler of Alapaha, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Nathan Thomas of Sparks, Hayden Thomas of Adel, Ethan Thomas of Adel, Madison Knight of Lake Wales, Allison and Tristan Corbitt of Homerville, Bailey "Curley Top" Knight of Lake Wales, Payton Knight of Sparks, and Henry Knight of Cecil; five great grandchildren; a brother, Darrell Wyatt of Sparks; a sister, Debra Pollard of Sparks; two special "Sons-In-Love": Eric Nelson of Hahira and J.C. Meeler of Adel; and a "Special Son", Winslow Knight. In addition to his parents, Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his daughter, Testa Lynn Knight, and a brother, Dale Wyatt.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Elder Tony Marshall and Elder Jim Sandlin officiating. Interment followed at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation took place at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Nathan Thomas, J.C. Meeler, Hayden Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Henry Knight and Joe Chaney served as active pallbearers while James Knight, Chris Hadden, Curtis Hadden and Ryan King served as honorary pallbearers. Members of the Primitive Baptist Church sang "Amazing Grace", "We Shall Sleep, But Not Forever" and "Turtle Dove" at the funeral service.
