Mr. Donald "Don" Connell, 66, of Tifton, Georgia, passed away January 27, 2015 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. He was born June 27, 1948 in Lenox, Georgia to his late parents, James Leonard Connell and Mary Lee Hamilton Connell and lived most of his life in Tift County. He was the retired owner and operator of a service station and also a carpenter. He was of the Baptist Faith and served his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Connell is survived by his wife, Janet Turner Connell of Tifton; four step-sons and daughters-in-law: Donnie Wells of Valdosta, Georgia, Steve and Christy Wells of Valdosta, Sonny and Catrina Cothren Lewis of Nashville, Georgia, and Floyd Lewis of Ashburn, Georgia; four step-daughters and a son-in-law: Wendy Hartley of Cleveland, Georgia, Ann W. Hall of Valdosta, Delphia and Bobby Monk of Moultrie, Georgia, and Rosa Lewis of Enigma, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Jackie Connell of Columbus, Georgia; and an aunt, Myrtle H. Bennett of Nashville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Wells Connell; a brother, William Luther Connell; and a sister, Judith Elaine Connell.
Mr. Connell's family received friends Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, Georgia. The funeral service took place Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Freeman officiating. Interment followed at Easters Cemetery in Cook County. Tony Callahan, Steve Wells, Jr., John Turner, James Turner, Will Shorey, and Edward Bozeman served as pallbearers. Special selection played during the service were: "He Didn't Have To Be," "House of the Rising Sun," and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."
