Mr. Donald L. Duren, 75, of Sparks, Georgia passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at his residence. He was born on March 26, 1945 in Cook County to the late Charlie and Maddie Bell Fender Duren. He lived all of his life in Cook County and was a retired farmer. Mr. Duren was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church.
Mr. Duren is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law: Carol and Timothy Harnage of Nashville, Georgia; Donna Watson and her significant other, Rudolph Robinson, Jr. of Adel, Georgia; Angie and Tony Bell of Berlin, Georgia and Joy Duren of Lakeland, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his previous wife and friend, Frances Cannon of Sparks; two sisters, Jewell Newbern and Hazel Duren, both of Adel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hester Duren; three brothers: Charles Duren, Ronald Duren and Bobby Duren; and five sisters: Martha Nickel, Grace Smallwood, Alma Cook, Jackie Wallace and Mary Alice Duren.
Due to the COVID-19 protocol, a private graveside service was held on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the Antioch Church Cemetery with Dr. Gary Brady officiating. Recordings of the following special music selections were played at the service "Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill, "I've Got More To Go To Heaven For" by the Inspirations and "Goodbye" by Kenny Rogers. Pallbearers were Alex Bell, Jacob Bell, Jeremy Bell, Tony Bell, Timmy Harnage and Timmy Guthrie.
