Mr. Edward Richard Ondick, 95, was born on December 26, 1922 in Lakewood, Ohio and left this earth peacefully on August 10, 2018 to meet his Heavenly Father. Ed was surrounded by his loving daughters, Anna and Carol, and a host of family and friends in his home and at 6:30 p.m., he quickly slipped away to join his beloved wife, Robbie Ondick who predeceased him 5 years ago.
Even though Ed had a difficult childhood with humble beginnings, he worked hard doing various jobs to support his family. He met the love of his life, Robbie Rountree and they were married on May 2, 1952. He managed Herman's Sausage Company and Cook Quik Meats and later managed Dan's Prize Meat Company. In 1963, Ed made the decision to purchase Hi Flavor Meats and moved his family to Central Florida where he would remain and live the rest of his life.
Ed was well respected in his field and served in many associations offering his expertise to serve the meat industry. He was always enthusiastic about helping people succeed in life and in business. He was a long standing member of the Southeastern Meat Association serving on the Board of Directors and as President of the Association. Also, he served in many capacities through the years on the Board of Directors with the National Association of Meat Processors.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Anna Ondick and Carol Belcher, (son in law, Charley) and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, etc.
The funeral service was held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11 AM at Evergreen Baptist Church in Cook County with Rev. Mike Brannon officiating. Jimmy Rountree, Chip Rountree, Billy Rountree, Tommy Rountree, Rountree Whitehurst, Scotty Whitaker and Marty Shiver served as pallbearers. The Rountrees sang at the service. Interment followed at Rountree Cemetery located on the church grounds. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Evergreen Baptist Church (2829 Evergreen Church Road; Adel, GA 31620).
