Mr. Elmer "E. W." Gibbs, 81, of Sparks, Georgia passed away February 13, 2023 at his residence.  Mr. Gibbs was born May 11, 1941 in Cook County to the late Elmer Burnette Gibbs and Mary Lydia Conger Gibbs.  He lived all of his life in Cook County and was a member of the Brushy Creek Baptist Church.  Mr. Gibbs retired from Del-Cook Lumber Company.

Mr. Gibbs is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Ronnie Hughes of Adel, Georgia; his son and daughter-in-law, Duke and Penny Gibbs of Sparks; two grandsons and their wives: Jake and Haley Hughes of Fitzgerald, Georgia and Josh and Melanie Hughes of Hahira, Georgia; one  great grandchild, Lyla Hughes of Hahira; and one sister, Jackie Wilkerson of Adel.  He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Mae Spires Gibbs; three brothers: Edgar Gibbs, Leonard Gibbs and Billy Gene Gibbs; and one sister, Bobbie Gibbs.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the chapel of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.), with Rev. Jimmy Parker officiating.  Interment followed at the Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation was held at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service.  "I Saw the Light" was played at the service and active pallbearers were LaRann Wilkerson, LaDon Wilkerson, Jack Wilkerson, Travis Gibbs, Joey Landress and Haiden DelaCruz.
