Emory Thomas Fletcher, Jr.
Mr. Emory Thomas Fletcher, Jr., "Fletch", 76, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. He was born November 18, 1937, in Douglas, Georgia, the son of Emory Thomas Fletcher, Sr. and Verna Browning Fletcher. He grew up in Adel, Georgia and was a member of the Adel United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Emory graduated from Cook High School in 1956, he attended Georgia Tech University and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington. He married Mary Jo Bennett of Adel in 1960, they were married for 41 years before her passing in 2001. They moved to Arlington, Texas in 1970. Emory was very devoted to his family, especially to his two grandsons. He retired after 41 years as Executive Vice President and Treasurer with Martin Sprocket and Gear in Arlington, Texas. He loved to travel, read, play golf, fish and spend time boating on the lakes of Texas as well as relaxing on the Gulf Coast beaches with family and friends.
Mr. Fletcher is survived by his daughter, Tracy Dodson and her husband, Ben; his son, Barry Thomas Fletcher and his wife, Charlene; and another daughter, Amy Fletcher; two grandsons: Ben Dodson, Jr. and Warren Thomas Fletcher; a sister, Cheryl Fletcher of
McDonough, Georgia and her sons Chris and Owen Griswold; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, with Reverend Glenn McCranie of Grandy, North Carolina and Reverend Christy Bandy with Antioch Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Ben Dodson, Jr., Warren Thomas Fletcher, Brad Bennett, Todd Bennett, Bubba Emrich, and Matt Dobbins. Lisa Folsom played piano and sang "Georgia On My Mind" and "Amazing Grace"; Talmadge, Render, and Fredda Folsom also joined Lisa in the singing of "I'll Fly Away."
