Mrs. Erma Jean Sumner, 75, of Adel, Georgia went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of February 26, 2016 at her home. She was born in Adel to her late parents, Hall Lankford Lasseter and Stella Effie Howell Lasseter. She was a lifelong resident of Cook County where she was a member of New Life Baptist Church and retired from the Cook County Board of Education.
Mrs. Sumner is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Roy G. Sumner of Adel; three sons and daughters-in-law: Brent and Teresa Sumner of Warner Robins, Georgia, Kevin and Suzanne Sumner of Moultrie, Georgia, Ricky and Kelly Sumner of Adel; six grandchildren: Bryan Sumner and Will Sumner of Warner Robins, Ty Sumner and Kylee Sumner of Adel, Hart Sumner and Hayes Sumner of Moultrie; two great-granddaughters: Zoe Sumner of Warner Robins and Noa Jade Sumner of Adel; a brother, Jimmy Lasseter of Centerville, Georgia; two sisters: Mary Nell Boyette and Latrelle Mobley, both of Adel; and many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Audrey Lynn Sumner and two brothers, Julian Lasseter and Gerald Lasseter.
A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Sumner was conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday February 28, 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex with Rev. Donnie Duncan and Rev. Harris Whitman officiating. Mrs. Sumner's family received friends on Sunday prior to the service from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. Bryan Sumner, Will Sumner, Ty Sumner, Hart Sumner, Hayes Sumner and Tyler Raulerson served as pallbearers. Mary Nell and Wayne Boyette sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain".
