Mr. Loren Eugene "Gene" Bentley, 72, of Adel, Georgia, passed away at his home on March 16, 2015. He was born on September 5, 1942 in Beardstown, Illinois, to his late parents, Loren Eugene Bentley and Lena Kathrine Lurch Bentley Pruett. He resided in Cook County for the past 35 years and was a retired truck driver with Pritchett Trucking. He attended Adel Church of God and also served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
Mr. Bentley is survived by his eight children: Ann Johnson of Lake City, Florida, Loren Bentley, Jr. of Lake City, William Bentley of Adel, Phillip Bentley of Adel, Bobby Bentley of Sylvester, Georgia, Crystal Criswell of Monticello, Kentucky, Melissa Hammer of Adel, and Kimberly Bentley of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; twenty grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert "Bob" Bentley of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Kenneth Bentley of Iowa; and a sister, Rosemary Raleigh of Colchester, Illinois. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Bentley and Terry "Pete" Bentley; and a sister, Lola Bentley.
The family received friends in Adel, Georgia Tuesday evening, March 17, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Georgia. The funeral service took place Friday March 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home, 1100 S. Lincoln Ave. in Jacksonville, Illinois. The family received friends in Illinois one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment followed at East Cemetery in Jacksonville, Illinois.
