Mr. Eugene Gunnels, Jr. of Hahira, Georgia passed away on December 25, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Cook County on March 28, 1945 and was the son of the late Albert Eugene Gunnels, Sr. and Louelle George Gunnels.  He was a retired machine operator and lived most of his life in Savannah, Cook County and Lowndes County.

Mr. Gunnels is survived by a daughter, Kayren Lynn Gunnels of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; special cousins, Patricia and Earl Mullis of Enigma, Georgia; and numerous other cousins.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Everette Wesley Gunnels.

A graveside service for Mr. Gunnels was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Springhead Church Cemetery with Mr. Phillip Clarke officiating.  The visitation took place at Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel, Georgia) on Saturday from 1:00 until 1:30 PM prior to the graveside service.  Matthew Mullis, Perry Mullis, Colby Mullis, Phil Clarke, Michael Robinson and Monty Wetherington served as pallbearers.  "Troubadour" and "The Dance" was played at the service.
