Obituary

Mrs. Eunice Smith, 92, of Adel, Georgia, passed away June 2, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Tifton, Georgia. She was born December 29, 1921 in Warwick, Georgia to the late Paul Arthur Woodard and Sallie Mae Connell Woodard. She lived most of her life in Cook County, was a member of First Baptist Church of Adel, and was retired from Western Union where she worked as an operator.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Charles "Tommy" Smith of Hanover, Germany; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and J.D. Newsome of Tifton; two grandsons: Evan R. Smith of Arlington, Virginia, and John David Newsome, Jr. (Donna) of Valdosta, Georgia; six great-grandchildren: Beth, Sarah, and Hannah Newsome of Monroeville, Alabama, Kaitlyn and Kyle Emmons of Valdosta, and Stefan "Goose" Withner of Atlanta, Georgia; a nephew, Ray Bozeman (Lucy) of Adel; a niece, Ann Crider (Billy) of Metter, Georgia; many grand nieces and nephews; and special caregivers: Vanessa Isaac, Latisha Cook, and Sue Whitley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Marion Smith; and a sister, Estelle Bozeman.

The funeral service was held Thursday June 5, 2014 at 11 am in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel with Rev. Jimmy Albritton officiating. The family received visitors one hour prior to the service. Interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex following the funeral service. Beth Penn played the piano and Dr. Mary Sue Ward sang "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and "It Is Well With My Soul." "You Are So Beautiful" was also played at the service. Beth, Sarah, Hannah, and Melissa Newsome sang "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" at the graveside. David Newsome, Kyle Emmons, Stefan "Goose" Withner, Billy Crider, Russell Hester, Ryan Hester, and Randall Waller served as pallbearers; Ray Bozeman and Gene Huffstuttler served as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give special thanks Southern Care Hospice. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in Mrs. Smith's honor to Southern Care Hospice (143 US Hwy 319 South, Ste. 1; Moultrie, Georgia 31768).
