Obituary

Mrs. Farinda Fletcher Jones, 81, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on April 26, 2021 at her residence.  She was born on April 10, 1940 in Cook County, Georgia, to the late Carl Russell Fletcher and Montine Mildred Chambers Fletcher Blount.  Mrs. Jones lived most of her life in Cook County before moving to Colquitt County for 15 years; after living there she moved with her husband to Gainesville, Florida, where she has lived for the past 21 years.  She was a retired elementary school teacher with the Colquitt County Board of Education and was a member of The Family Church in Gainesville.

Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Steven and Sally Jones of Gainesville, Florida, Douglas and Donna Jones of Ellijay, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Brittany Willis of Gainesville, Florida, Preston Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Parker Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Seth Jones and Sara Jones, both of Gainesville, Florida, Lindsey Byrd of Killeen, Texas, and Mark Jones of Adairsville, Georgia; three great grandchildren: Brantley Willis and Brielle Willis of Gainesville, Florida and Cameron Byrd of Killeen, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Dwain and B.J. Fletcher of Quitman, Georgia; her brother-in-law, Mike Purdom of Byron, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, George Clary Jones, and her sister, Janice Purdom.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel, Georgia with Pastor Patrick Callahan officiating.  Interment will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that honorariums in memory of Mrs. Jones be made to The Family Church, 2022 SW 122nd Street, Gainesville, Florida 32607.
