Mrs. Frances Murphy, 90, of Adel, Georgia, passed away May 22, 2015, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, Georgia. She was born October 25, 1924 in Adel to the late James David Watson and the late Mary Ella Taylor Watson. She lived in Cook County all of her life where she was a homemaker and a member of Beulah Holiness Baptist Church.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her son, Richard Murphy of Adel; a daughter-in-law, Nancy C. Murphy of Tifton, Georgia; two granddaughters: Heather Johnson and her husband David Johnson III, and Dodie and Robert Gartman, all of Tifton; two great-grandchildren: Hannah Johnson and Megan Johnson, both of Tifton; two brothers: James Watson of Adel, and Billy Joe Watson of Moultrie, Georgia; and two sisters: Mollie Faye Beyer of Lakeland, Florida, and Elaine Taylor of Adel. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband , Herman Lee Murphy; a brother, Zollie Watson; and three sisters: Betty Jean Cason, Etta May Taylor, and Hazel Watson.
The Murphy family received friends Sunday evening, May 24, 2015, from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service took place Monday, May 25, 2015 at 11 AM at Beulah Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Jordan and Rev. Billy Joe Watson officiating. Interment followed at Beulah Church Cemetery. Roger Ruis, Ferrell Ruis, Billy Jack Walters, Jerry Bennett, Daniel Cassity, and Dewitt Jordan served as active pallbearers; Randall Lairsey, Bobby Ruis, and the Cook Medical Center Pink Ladies Auxiliary served as honorary pallbearers. Marie Ruis played piano and members of the Beulah Church Choir and the Riverside Church Choir sang "The Prettiest Flowers", "I'll Meet You in the Morning", and "That Glad Reunion Day".
