Mr. Frank O'Quinn, age 80, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on February 15, 2025 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. He was born on April 26, 1944 in Cook County to the late Charlie Duncan O'Quinn and the late Louvisa "Visa" Smith O'Quinn. Mr. O'Quinn lived most of his life in Cook County and he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1967. He retired from Georgia Power after 33 years of service where he was a commercial sales engineer. Mr. O'Quinn was of the Christian faith and a cattle farmer. He served his community in various ways: in 1992 he served as Chairman of Cook County Chamber of Commerce, in 1996 he served as a Cook County Commissioner and he served many years on the Cook County Tax Assessors Board. Mr. O'Quinn also served on the board of Valdosta Technical College and volunteered to read to third graders in the Valdosta City School system. He was the administrator and co-grant writer along with his wife, Nancy O'Quinn, to get north Elm Street in Adel paved for Wiregrass Technical College. His true loves were his family, raising cattle and being a farmer.
Mr. O'Quinn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Kennedy O'Quinn of Adel; three sons and daughters-in-law: Rob and Karen O'Quinn of Macon, Georgia, Spencer and Jennifer O'Quinn of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Alan and Shonna O'Quinn of Adel; seven grandchildren: Kathryn, Aubrey, Brooke, Evan, Rachel, Will and Claire; and one great grandson, Everett. In Addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Joe O'Quinn, and four sisters: Helen VanBrackle, Ruth Butcher, Dorothy McCullough and Jean Ballard.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Longbridge Cemetery in Berrien County with special scriptures to be read at the service. Interment will follow. Visitation will take place from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to any animal rescue service or animal shelter.
