Mrs. Gladys Postell Hester, 107, of Adel, Georgia, passed away February 22, 2016 at Berrien Nursing Ceneter in Nashville, Georgia. She was born August 2, 1908 in Andrews, North Carolina to her late parents, Jacob Reno Postell and Laura Hill Postell. She lived most of her life in Cook County where she worked as a homemaker and was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Adel.
Mrs. Hester is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Don Duren of Adel; six grandchildren: Lisa and Curtis Myers, Pamela and Ronnie Dobbins, Tommy and Bobby Ann Hester, Jennifer and Cruz Garcia (all of Adel), Christopher and Sherry Hester of Albany, Georgia, Shireen and Mike Blackburn of Florida; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Joyce Hester Arthur of Adel and Marty Hester of Crystal River, Florida; four step-grandchildren and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Thomas Hester; three sons: Gaines, Douglas and Russell Hester; and her siblings: Gertrude Postell, Otho Postell, Glenn Postell, Coy Postell, Edgar "Ted" Postell, Kathleen Sharp and Voe Phelps.
A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Hester was held Thursday February 25, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Adel with Rev. Mike Brannon officiating. The family received friends at Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.) one hour prior to the graveside service. Lee Weaver, Ross Weaver, Will Dobbins, John Douglas Funderburk, Renn Hester and Ethan Myers served as pallbearers. Steve Meders sang "Midnight Cry" and "How Great Thou Art".
