Mrs. Hellen Griffis Martin, 66, of Adel, Georgia, passed away July 5, 2016 at Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, Georgia. She was born in Lowndes County on February 27, 1950 to her late parents, Hugh Dorsey Griffis, Sr. and Pauline Asbell Griffis. She lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a retired florist and child care provider as well as a member of Springhead Baptist Church.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her three sons and a daughter-in-law: Bryan Evan Martin and Lyn Faircloth Martin of Adel, Chris Allen Martin of Senoia, Georgia, and Douglas Shane Martin of Adel; five grandchildren: Luke Martin, Lyndsay Martin, Lance Martin, Lily Martin, all of Senoia, and Drew Martin of Adel; a brother and sister-in-law, Dorsey Griffis, Jr. and Katie of Jonesboro, Georgia; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Talmadge Folsom of Adel; and a sister-in-law and Brother-in-Law, Judy Griffis Miley and Junior Miley of Adel. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Frank Martin and a brother, Lytelle Griffis.

The Martin family received friends Thursday July 7, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service took place at 11 AM Friday July 8, 2016 at Springhead Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Springhead Church Cemetery. Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang "I Want Us to Be Together in Heaven" and Lisa Folsom sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and also played piano. Jason Griffis, Greg Folsom, Kenny Griffis, Derry Hewitt, Phillip Martin, Chuck Martin and Jason Nolan served as pallbearers.
