Mrs. Hilda Crosby Rice, 81, of Adel, passed away Friday March 2, 2018 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel.  She was born on February 14, 1937 in Ade to Harmon Elliott Crosby, Sr. and Gladys Dickerson Crosby.  Mrs Rice lived in Cook County all of her life where she was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and a retired teacher's aide for Cook Elementary School.

Mrs. Rice is survived by her son, James Rice; a granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany and Kyle Hand; a grandson and his fiancee, Adam Rice and Brooke Hinson; a great-grandson, Brice Hand (all of Adel); and a sister, Carolyn C. Noles of Perry, Florida.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Rice; two brothers: Harmon Elliott Crosby, Jr. and Frank Crosby; and four sisters: Noma Crosby, Freddie Carol Crosby, Annette C. Norman and Mary Lou Mixon.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rice was held Sunday March 4, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with her son, Rev. James Rice, officiating.  The family received friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.  Cremation followed and her cremains were interred next to her son, William, at Antioch Church Cemetery.  Special musical selections to be played during the service will be: "Amazing Grace," "Beulah Land" and "The Old Rugged Cross."  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .  --Boone Funeral Home has been entrusted by the Rice family for all arrangements.
