Mr. Jack Warren, 83, of Adel, Georgia, passed away Tuesday November 1, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. He was born on March 20, 1933, in Laurens County to his late parents, G.O. Warren and Nora Scarborough Warren Griffis. He lived in Cook County most of his life where he was a Mason and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Mr. Warren was retired from the United States Air Force and served honorably in the Vietnam War and Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Warren is survived by two step-sons and daughters-in-law: John Henry and Regina Surrency and Gary and Lisa Surrency, all of Adel; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles McClain of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lynn Warren of Hahira, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Trenia and John McElevey of Dallas, Georgia; six grandchildren: Chief Warrant Officer Chaz McElevey (Debra) of Dallas, Georgia, Cameron McElevey (Lauren) of Concord, North Carolina, Brooke Warren of Hahira, Cpl. Walter Warren of Beaufort, South Carolina and Clint Warren (Heather) of Adel; seven step-grandchildren: Mitchel McClain (Angi) of Hahira, Kyle McClain (Lindsey) of Adel, Jessica Watson (Nick) of Nashville, Georgia, Garrett Surrency (Kathryn), Kacey Myers (Craig) all of Sparks, Georgia, Jennifer Green (Corey) of Middleburg, Florida and Jonathan Surrency (Kathryn) of Adel; 22 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law: Lois Jackson of Lake Park, Georgia, and Joy and George Smith of Lake Mary, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Surrency Warren and three sisters: Doris Lairsey, Jerrell Daniels and Opal Merriman.
The family of Mr. Warren received friends Friday evening November 4, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 4 PM with Rev. Ike Jefferson and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Interment with military honors took place at Sparks City Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lisa Surrency played piano and Gary Surrency sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Mitchel McClain, Kyle McClain, Garrett Surrency, Jonathan Surrency, Nick Watson, Craig Myers and Corey Green served as pallbearers.
