Mr. James Butler "J. B." Cannington, 92 of Valdosta, Georgia passed away December 31, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Cannington was born January 11, 1924 in Cook County to the late James Allen Cannington and Lola Bell Touchton Cannington. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Cannington is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Roy Wills of Denville, New Jersey; son, Robert Cannington and his partner Lisa of Maryland, son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Sharon Cannington of Essex, Maryland; one brother: Frederick Cannington of Buford, Georgia; one sister, Louise Roberson of Jonesboro, Georgia; 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren; and a number of loving nieces and nephews, who looked after him with great care. He was preceded in death by one son: James Butler Cannington Jr. USMC who was killed in Vietnam; four brothers: Aubrey Cannington, Gordon Eugene Cannington, Walter Brown Cannington, and William "Billy" Cannington; three sisters: Odessa Flowers, Eula Mae "June" Scott and Flora Davidson. Mr. Cannington was also preceded in death by his former wife, Elsie Cannington.

A Celebration of Life will be held. Entombment will follow in the
Baltimore National Cemetery.
