Mrs. Jean Johnson, 84, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away August 2, 2014 at Lakehaven Nursing Center in Valdosta. She was born June 21, 1930 in Cook County to the late Samuel George Carter and the late Nina Hires Carter. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Valdosta and was a retired LPN where she worked with Smith Hospital and the Greenleaf Center. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, Mark George of Valdosta; her daughter, Terri George of Decatur, Georgia; a brother, Hilburn A. Carter of Valdosta; and a nephew, Barry Carter of Adel, Georgia. She was the widow of Ronnie Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson's family received friends on Monday evening, August 4, 2014 from 6 until 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. Graveside funeral service were held on Tuesday August 5 , 2014 at 10 am at Hempstead Church Cemetery, located on Hempstead Church Road in Berlin, Georgia, with Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating. Active pallbearers: Barry Carter, Mike Selph, Johnny Rogers and Robbie Youngblood. Special music by CD " Down To The River To Pray".
