Mrs. Jeanette Johnson Hayes, 91, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away on June 20, 2019 at the Sparks Retirement Home.  She was born on March 12, 1928 in Lowndes County but lived all of her life in Cook County where she was a member of Sparks Baptist Church.  Mrs. Hayes is the daughter of the late Arlie Bryant Johnson and Bessie Webb Johnson.  She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Cook County Board of Education and Adel Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughter, Diane Rooks, and two grandsons, Jason Rooks and Daniel Rooks, all of Lenox, Georgia.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Hayes in 1978; her step-mother, Mary Wise Johnson; her son-in-law, Elton Rooks; two brothers, Walter Johnson and J.B. Johnson; and three sisters, Mildred Rowan, Clarice Kelley and Ruth Bennett.

A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Hayes was held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Sparks City Cemetery with Rev. William Davis officiating.  Kevin Rooks, Lee Rowan, Larry Phillips, Tommy Folsom, Scott Peters and Matt Martinez served as pallbearers.  "Mansion Over the Hilltop" was played at the graveside.  The family received friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com .  --Boone Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
