Mr. Griffin is survived by his brother, Gary Griffin of Cecil, Georgia, and a sister, Peggy Griffin Allen of Valdosta, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Lee Griffin.

A graveside funeral service for Mr. Griffin took place on Friday April 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Church Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Peggy Griffin Allen provided the eulogy and sang a special tribute song. Ronnie Caldwell played guitar and sang "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and Rick Riner also played guitar and sang a special tribute to Mr. Griffin. "Sweet, Sweet Love", a hit song which Mr. Griffin recorded during his music career, was played at the conclusion of the service. Cotton Hewitt, Pamela Sue Jabon, Jenny Player, Rick Riner, Wayne Delk, and Mike Adams served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family of Mr. Griffin.
