Mrs. "Jerry" Gillespie, 88, of Adel, Georgia passed away October 6, 2017 at the Tift Regional Medical Center. She was born August 26, 1929 in Arcadia, Florida to the late John Perry Greer and Pebble Margaret Joyner Greer and was the widow of Jesse Render Gillespie. Mrs. Gillespie lived most of her life in Cook County and was a retired cashier with the Smith Northview Hospital. Mrs. Gillespie was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Adel.

She is survived by one son, Dale Gillespie of Valdosta, Georgia; one grandson and his wife, Ethan and Jessica Gillespie of Atlanta, Georgia; and her "Favorite Friend", Mrs. Valera Clements of Adel. Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by two brothers: John P. Greer and Curtis J. Greer.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel with Rev. Scotty Mathis officiating and the eulogy given by Mr. Ethan Gillespie. Ethan Gillespie, Jason Eisenhower, Josh Eisenhower, Adam Eisenhower, Corey Mackie and Jon Register served as active pallbearers; Mickey Burns, Marvin Deen, Kevin Shaw, Steve Beall and Ricky Mathis served as honorary pallbearers. Amanda Hall led the congregation in "Amazing Grace." Visitation was held one hour prior to service time at Boone Funeral Home North, 202 N. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel.
