Mr. Jesse A. Henderson, 80, of Adel, Georgia, passed away May 20, 2016 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. He was born August 25, 1935 in Greenville, Florida to his late parents, Caraway and Martha Barclay Henderson. He was a member of Massee Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, was a retired manager of the Social Security Administration and was also retired from the United States Air Force.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Mathis Henderson of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Greg and Kimberly Henderson of Adel, Frank and Becky Henderson of Auburn, Alabama; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Curtis Hamilton of Adel; six grandchildren: Kyle and April Hamilton of Nashville, Georgia, Justin Hamilton, Sarah Henderson, Anna Henderson, all of Adel, Meghan Henderson and Jacob Henderson, both of Auburn; two great-grandchildren: Marlee Hamilton and Levi Hamilton of Nashville; and two sisters: Nellie Hill of Greenville, Florida and Ruth Ward of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

The Henderson family received friends Sunday afternoon May 22, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel. The funeral service took place Monday May 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Massee Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Milliken and Rev. Bob Harvey officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Adel. The Deacons of Massee Baptist Church served as active pallbearers which included Lloyd Tribble, Don Carnine, Jerry Joiner, Jackie Raley, Jim Rader and Ron Grabenstetter; honorary pallbearers included members of the Gideons and Dr. Stanley Hendricks. Sarah Henderson sang "When We All Get to Heaven", "Blessed Assurance" and "Softly and Tenderly"; the congregation sang "Amazing Grace"; Phil Gibbs sang "Remind Me Dear Lord" and Teresa Williams played piano.
