Mr. Jim Mathews, 73, of Sparks, Georgia passed away at his home August 22, 2015. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 28, 1942 but has lived in Cook County for the past two years. He worked as a truck driver for Trucks, Inc. of Jackson, Georgia and also served his country in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Mathews; mother, Patricia Bassett Beach; and his step-father, Clarence Beach.

Mr. Mathews is survived by his wife, Donna Mathews of Sparks; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Sandy Gaylor of Jackson; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Karen and Tom Rhodes of Summerfield, Florida, and Teresa Huff of Douglasville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com.
