Mrs. Joan Crosby Ensley, 77, of Sparks, Georgia, passed away at her home on July 14, 2019. She was born on October 11, 1941 in Lowndes County. Her parents were the late Edward Martin Crosby and Ruby Irene Clontz Crosby. Mrs. Ensley lived most of her life in Sparks where she was a member of Sparks United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Adel Branch of Park Avenue Bank after 53 and a half years where she served as Vice-President.
Mrs. Ensley is survived by her husband, James Ensley of Sparks; a son, Clay Ensley of St. Mary's, Georgia; grandchildren: Brandi and Lee Cain of Adel, and Dalton Ensley of St. Mary's; great-grandchildren: Bella and Bailey Cain of Adel; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Diane Crosby of Adel; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Crosby; and four sisters: Marlene Tillman, Mary Griffin, Jean Hanks and Sue Smith.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Sparks United Methodist Church with Rev. Al Lewis and Rev. John Harrington officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Tuesday evening, July 16, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home South. Eddie Crosby, Nelson Hanks, Jeremy Kendrick, Spencer Ensley, Bud Paulk and Rene Cowart served as active pallbearers; Terry Permenter, Jerry Permenter, Brian Kelly, Ed Revels, Jerry Ragland, Lee Cain, Jerry Edwards, Wayne Bridges and Sonny Shroyer served as honorary pallbearers. Claudette Spearman and Cindy Williams played the organ and piano which included "It Is Well With My Soul" as the family entered the service; Steve Meders sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Home Where I Belong;" the congregation sang "Hymn of Promise."
