Mr. John Henry Folsom, 85, of Adel, Georgia, passed away January 24, 2016 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. He was born on December 25, 1930 in Adel to his late parents, Acy Clifford Folsom and Lula Mae Erskine Folsom. He was retired from Folsom's Garage where he served as the owner and operator, served formerly on the City Council of Adel for 40 years, had been a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, and was a member of Gregg's Baptist Church.
Mr. Folsom is survived by his wife, Peggy Shiflett Folsom of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joy Folsom of Adel; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Clay Dorminey of Adel; eight grandchildren: Hunter Folsom, Hudson Folsom, Hannah Folsom, Reese Akins, Acy Dorminey (all of Adel), Alex Dorminey and McKenna Dorminey (both of Fitzgerald, Georgia), Carah Dorminey of Lakeland, Georgia and Brandon Dorminey of Tennessee; a brother, Eugene Folsom of Crestview, Florida; and a sister, Odell Pope of Adel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Folsom; and two sisters, Laverne Giddens and Blanche Smith.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Adel with Rev. Dillard Ensley, Rev. Brian Gay and Mr. Jerry Permenter officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening January 26, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel.
